Dastan Hussen Maulud is a Kurdish computer scientist, educator, and researcher specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing (NLP), based in Erbil. He currently serves as the Director of the Information and Communications Technology Center (ICTC) at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, where he leads national ICT development, digital transformation, and training initiatives. Earned his PhD in Artificial Intelligence (NLP) from Duhok Polytechnic University in 2023, following an MSc in Computer Science from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad and a BSc in Computer Science from Salahaddin University, where he graduated top of his class. Alongside his public-sector leadership, he has held several academic roles, including Head of the Computer Science Department at Hawler Private Institute for Computer Science and lecturer positions at multiple universities. His work bridges government, academia, and research, with a focus on advancing AI technologies and strengthening ICT infrastructure and education in the Kurdistan Region.
